Where XDB comes from.

NFD Domains adds vaults.

NFD Domains gave every Algorand name (an NFD, like name.algo) a vault: an account tied to the name that can take in any token. The sender pays the 0.1 ALGO opt-in, and the owner of the name collects the tokens later. Anyone could now send a token to a name whose owner had never opted in to it.

That new door is what made the next step possible.

Barb turns a name into tickets.

An Algorand user known as Barb saw what vaults allowed. Barb opened barb.algo and let people create segments of it, like yourname.barb.algo. Each segment worked as a ticket: its vault received a share of Barb's meme coin, BARB.

The idea caught on. Dogebarb started from there, as a way to reward the people who received BARB and to encourage them to keep it.

Dogebarb is born, and a quarter goes to BARB holders.

XDB was created on December 26, 2023, with 200 billion units and no powers at all from its very first transaction: nobody can change it, freeze it, take it back or mint more. Over the holidays, the BARB holders were recorded, and 50 billion XDB, a quarter of the supply, were set aside for them.

From January 2 to 19, 2024, they were sent out at 1,000 XDB for every BARB held.

Another 50 billion, one for one.

Every wallet received one XDB for every XDB it held. The whole drop went out in two minutes, on the evening of April 27, 2024.

The last 100 billion.

For Christmas, Dogebarb organized one last airdrop, in the spirit of the holidays. On December 30, 2024, the rest of the supply went out to holders, again in two minutes.
